Parliament approves GH₵67bn Appropriation (No.2) bill

Parliament has approved the Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2017 that seeks legal backing from the legislature to enable a sum of money not exceeding GH₵67billion to be issued from the Consolidated Fund and other funds during financial year commencing the 1st day of December 2018 for the purpose of meeting government expenditure.

According to a report of the finance committee on the Appropriation Bill, the Committee observed that the Ministries, Departments and Agencies shall be permitted to retain and use an amount of 3billion of Internally Generated Funds (IGFs) during the 2018 financial year.

Furthermore, out of the total amount of 67billion estimated in 2018, the Committee noted 37billion would constitute payments of Other Government Obligations whilst the rest would cover discretionary payments.
